In About Think, Edward de Bono sets out that thinking is a deliberate skill that can be learned and developed with practice. De Bono also clears up some common and possibly mistaken ideas about thinking: High intelligence is not the same as good thinking. Many people with high IQs do not direct their thinking effectively. Knowing information does not necessarily mean that good thinking is taking place. Memorising or acquiring facts is not the same as being able to use those facts effectively as part of thinking skills. Thinking is not discussion, knowledge, intuition, having a point of vies, or being able to express oneself well. About Think is a small 46 page booklet on the subject of thinking as a skill.
